Dear Indivisible HOPE followers,
WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS – and we would like to tell you about an exciting lawn sign campaign our group launched at our last meeting in order to show our support and raise awareness for the important work our educators do.
We would like to share the idea and provide everybody with the sign template who is interested. Lets help to spread the idea.
Whether we enjoyed going to school or made our way to classes more reluctantly, almost everyone has met a memorable teacher who supported, encouraged or inspired us. Teachers have great influence on our children and with that on our country’s future. Their work can support our efforts to guide our children toward becoming responsible adults and active members of our communities who will look carefully at promises politicians might make and then come to their own informed opinions and decisions.
Clearly, teachers play an important role in our country’s future – all the while seeing their efforts undermined by the current administration. Patrick Eddis, former Montgomery County campaign manager for Hillary Clinton, gave the inspiration for a lawn sign in support of teachers when he spoke at one of our recent Indivisible HOPE meetings. He pointed out how Republicans are using many positive messages and “dog whistle” politics to reach out to their constituents, one example being the widely seen yard sign “We support our police”.
Statements with positive connotations create positive emotions and are effective from a marketing point of view. We feel motivating people to be engaged for a cause over an extended period of time requires more than criticizing the opponent and that it is important for us to start focusing on more positive and inspiring messages.
The yard sign “WE LOVE OUR TEACHERS”, created by Indivisible HOPE, does just that and states what opponents of the current administration stand FOR, rather than what we are AGAINST.
We decided to keep both message and design positive and simple to foster a concern for teachers and keep the sign applicable to different teacher/education related issues.
Our first 100 signs were co-sponsored by the Southeastern Region of the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA) and therefore carry their logo as well as that of Indivisible HOPE. We are happy to provide the template to any group that would like to spread the idea; you can then replace the logos with your own and that of your sponsor.
A picture of the yard sign is shown below. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us unter indivisiblehope@gmail.com
Thank you for your consideration,
